What is resilience?

Resilience is the capacity of a system, like a society or an ecosystem, to deal with change and continue to develop. The Stockholm Resilience Centre focuses specifically on interwoven systems of humans and nature, what we refer to as “social-ecological systems”. In this context, a resilience perspective provides a new way of addressing and analysing issues of governance and management of social-ecological systems and ecosystem services.
